An Introduction to RealKidz Thank you for visiting RealKidz Inc. We are thrilled that you want to know more about us: our clothing, mission and business opportunity. RealKidz Inc. was founded by Merrill Guerra in 2007. Merrill created a business plan for a kid's clothing company that would cater to the needs of plus-size girls. She and her daughter, Gabriella, had experienced the challenge of finding tasteful, appropriate and well-fitting clothes. It was this experience that motivated Merrill to bring RealKidz to life. The Need After our initial product launch, we were overwhelmed with requests to expand our offering to kids of all shapes and sizes. We listened and are doing just that. Our newest collections feature average sizes for girls and we look to eventually expand to offering slim sizes. We will also be implementing a social network for families with the goal in mind of becoming a “go to” resource for families of girls in this age range by providing support and encouragement to incorporate healthy lifestyle choices in their daily lives. Even though we are expanding our offerings, our focus will always remain on offering above-average and plus sizes for girls. Here’s why: The apparel retail market for girls in the 5-12 year old category is a $10.6 Billion market. The plus-size segment of that market is $3.2 Billion which is almost untapped with only 16% of plus-size girls able to find clothing that is designed for them and that fits. There are 16 million girls in the 5-12 year old range in our country and 5.5 million of them are either overweight or obese. The tween market, that represents 8-12 years old represents a $260 Billion market in terms of their spending. The 5.5 million girls that are either overweight or obese have almost NO apparel manufacturers catering to their needs! RealKidz intends to change that. We want to make a difference for all girls and their parents in this age range, whether it is by offering age appropriate clothing, plus-sized clothing or being an online resource for both the girls and parents that promotes healthy living. |
