Time to Matriculate!!

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

I’m happy to announce I graduated yesterday from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.  It was a nice ceremony with some great speakers and all the pomp and circumstance you expect.  It’s been an incredibly busy time both personally and with the business and, to that end, I am excited to announce another major milestone….

We have clothing in the office and ready for sale!!  We are having the finishing touches put on here in Ypsilanti and getting the website store finalized to go live.  Laura, my Director of Consultant Development, is gearing up to start recruiting consultants and selling the clothing.

In addition to clothing, we are closer to funding than we’ve ever been; and, while you can’t count the money til it’s in the bank, we are fortunate to be working with a phenomenal group of Angels who believe in us and what we’re doing.

Well, I’d like to take this opportunity to commend and congratulate all of those freshly minted graduates who are running around right now!  This is a huge accomplishment and will be a great stepping stone from which to base the accomplishments you will achieve in the future.

Chicago…It’s a wonderful town!

Man, the titles are hard to come up with and I’m sure you get sick of (as much as I’m tired of writing) “clothing update.” Well, woohoo, I have a reason for a fun title. I’m heading to Chicago Sunday to visit the cut and sew manufacturer on Monday morning. I’ll be meeting my pattern maker there who is essentially overseeing production and quality for me as she’s located there in Chicago and works well with the manufacturer. I’m looking forward to the visit. Gloria moved her shop since I visited (and I don’t blame her, it was the middle of winter and she had no heat!). I haven’t seen the new facility but it sounds like a much better place for her and her staff. I’m planning on taking pictures of Gloria and Jeanne (my patternmaker) and of the production process to post on the site.

It will be a quick trip there and back, but I’ll have the opportunity to reconnect with a great friend of mine from business school and his wife who now live in Chicago. I’m looking forward to catching up with them and seeing them in their element! They always were big city people kind of trapped in a much more suburban milieu (I always wanted to use that word!) here in Ypsilanti.

I’ll post again soon!…no really! :)
